This Stardust styled shoot is nothing short of magical! The details capture the enchantment of the book perfectly but my favorite part by far is the wonderful camera trick that turned the bride into a luminous star herself!

Neverwhere: The BBC Radio Drama
The BBC will make the episodes of Neverwhere available at this link.
Benedict Cumberbatch Will Sing Creepily In Neverwhere
The BBC radio drama version of Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere premieres Saturday. This new clip features Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the angel Islington, singing a very creepy song.
The cast also includes James McAvoy, Natalie Dormer, Anthony Stewart Head, and Christopher Lee.
(Just realized that AHS had better do some singing too!)
As you may know, I am:
A. a big fan of Neil Gaiman;
B. a procrastinating idiot. So, when I discovered that such thing as Neil’s Calendar of Tales project exists, I was excited and thrilled beyond words. But. I already mentioned that I am an idiot, so I just messed up the deadline aaand therefore fucked up everything. This is what I managed to create in two days and Jesus, it is actually not that bad. I don’t even know if my submission came through (it was already past the deadline when I hit the button), but I will totally finish this one, because I surprisingly liked these fishy fellas.
I usually work in b/w at first and then add the colour; as you can see, this stupid ‘colour’ was added in the last minute (literally), so it’s not as fabulous as it needed to be to represent the story (it is July tale, by the way - read it, please).
Not hoping to be chosen as the best contestant, obviously, but whatever.
So many beautiful paintings (and videos) came in late (or didn’t come in). There are over 5000 pieces of amazing art, and from my point of view, the people taking my stories and making magic with them was the point, and is the point…
We’ll pick some to go on the upcoming Website where we’ll keep all of this stuff, but I wish we could pick all of them….
Let us all just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the 2012 hardcover edition of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust is. Not only is it one of my favorite books and a lovely tale, but the design of the book is gorgeous and fits the story perfectly. And look at those new Charles Vess illustrations! The most beautiful book currently on my bookshelf in terms of design. And what an experience to hold and interact with this beauty. This is why paper books will never disappear.
This is my submission to the Blackberry Contest off of Neil Gaimans stories called “A Calendar of Tales”. This took forever for me to do. From sketching, to photographing the images and textures, to finally getting some work done in the computer. I hope I win, but looking at the website, there are alot of great artists who have a lot of talent. I’m happy that I got to do this, even if I don’t win.
My girlfriend, Bonnie, left me last night due to distance between us after she moved away to go to school.
This post isn’t about that. This post is about how talented of an artist she is. Bonnie is absolutely incredible. She made this recently for a contest Neil Gaiman had announced, but quickly told me she wouldn’t be submitting it. She isn’t the most confident person when it comes to her work. She can’t really get upset with me since we aren’t speaking; I would never submit it without her permission but I wanted to post this to show you guys how talented she is.
It’s not really about the competition. It’s about making art… And I’m so glad she did.
“Only when my great-niece was gone and I was alone, did I swim upward, letting the pendant pull me home, up into the vastness above us, where we wander with the lonely sky-whales and the skies and seas are one.”
My submission to Neil Gaiman’s “A Calendar of Tales” project with Blackberry. :) ::hugs the project::
I read the February Tale and this image floated into my head, and as I read further, I couldn’t concentrate because I kept seeing this image, haha… So I gave in :)

My submission for Neil Gaiman’s Calendar of Tales: July
I had the amazing opportunity to talk to Neil at Books of Wonder this Saturday, and was inspired to finish my illustration. He was a joy to talk to, and I am so happy he took the time to speak to all the people who came to see him.

Neverwhere… From the Radio Times website:
As anticipation mounts among fantasy fans ahead of the Radio 4 adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere, RadioTimes.com can reveal the first exclusive shot of the star-studded cast, which reads like a who’s who of cult TV.
Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch and X-Men’s James McAvoy are joined by Game of Thrones and former Fades star Natalie Dormer, Doctor Who alumnus Sophie Okondeo and Homeland’s David Harewood for the tale of London Below, an alternate reality beneath the capital where famous landmarks take on a life of their own.
Screen legends Christopher Lee and Bernard Cribbins also star in an adaptation that is being described as an “audio film”.
The six-part series begins with an hour-long episode on Saturday 16 March on Radio 4 and continues with five 30-minute instalments on Radio 4 Extra from Monday 18 March.
More photos and news to follow in the coming weeks…

The Second Stage of the BlackBerry project is now live. The 12 stories I wrote, one for each month, based on tweet-suggestions,are up and available to read online or for download.
I’m waiting for them to put up the instructions on how you can make art to accompany the stories… In the meantime, here’s a short video of the day between the tweets going out and the stories being written…
Neil Gaiman: A Calendar of Tales. Your Part...
So. There’s Amazing Art out there on the web. I watch it being made on Tumblr all the time. That was part of my inspiration for this project, when BlackBerry asked if I would be interested in making something in collaboration with the world.
I wrote 12 stories, inspired by tweets that came back from questions I asked on Twitter. The Q& A process in itself turned into a sort of magical art-connection thing in its own right. It was beautiful.
The idea now is that people get to make art inspired by the stories. And then we put up the art and we make a real paper calendar with art and stories and an online version too, with LOTS of the art…
I really wish I could draw. I would love to contribute to this.
