Coloring process shot on what became the most iconic drawing of Ramona.
Everyone always cosplays this with bright pink shorts, but I originally saw them as much darker… oh well! I love seeing all the variations people come up with — denim jackets, leather jackets, hoodies, gloves, shoes… I love my cosplayers u_u;
Jason Reitman Directing A Live-Read of American Beauty

Jason Reitman is directing a live-read of Alan Ball and Sam Mendes’ wonderful film American Beauty, debuting tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival. The incredible cast includes:
Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) as Lester Burnham
Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Firefly) as Caroline Burnham
Mae Whitman (Arrested Development, Scott Pilgrim) as Jane Burnham
Adam Driver (Girls) as Ricky Fitts
Woody Harrelson (Cheers, Zombieland, The Hunger Games) as Col. Frank Fitts
Sarah Gadon (Cosmopolis) as Angela Hayes
and Nick Kroll (The League) as Buddy Kane
I really wish I could go see this. Cranston and Hendricks alone would be worth the price of admission.
:D LOVE this!

Universal Studio Head Gets Candid About Movies
Over the weekend, one of the higher-ups at Universal Studios admitted that his studio has made some “shitty” (his exact word) movies in the past few years. The main link takes you to an io9. summary, while the source link will take you to the original story.
He addresses the fact that poorly performing films, whether they be of low quality (Land of the Lost) or high (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), have “forced” the studio to be more risk-averse and choose to make films that are more likely to appeal to wide audiences, rather than something ambitious that will garner critical acclaim but may not have a broad appeal. He laments that the studio is making bad movies, but feels he is constrained in the movies that Universal can make. (The io9. writer delves deeper into the inherent contradiction in the executive’s remarks.) He also states that 3D should not be used for every movie, a statement with which I wholeheartedly agree.
