May 22, 2013 - The National

Lois Lerner won’t spill the IRS scandal beans, Mitch McConnell endorses hemp, PBS appeases David Koch, and The National shares their album “Trouble Will Find Me.”

Normally, I would embed the specific video I am talking about but there was a problem with that specific video.  In the first segment, Colbert addresses teh continuing coverage of the IRS scandal.  In one of the latest developments, IRS official Lois Lerner chose to invoke her Fifth Amendment right not to testify.  Watch as multiple cable news reporters, even Chris Matthews from the “liberal” MSNBC, question why she would do such a thing if she “has nothing to hide.”  Part of our Fifth Amendment right involves not having guilt associated with us for invoking constitutional protections, and this behavior erodes that right.  This is absolutely irresponsible.

I previously posted a version of The Rains of Castamere, but I got excited about this one because it is sung by The National.  Sadly, it isn’t that good, and now my main reason for posting it is to bring to attention the fact that HBO is apparently getting some pretty good bands together to do a soundtrack for Game of Thrones.

Also, before even listening to this version, I realized that The Decemberists are the perfect band to do this song.
