The trailer for ABC’s spin-off to Once Upon A Time, Once Upon A Time In Wonderland.

I honestly don’t know what to make of this trailer.  It looks cheesy but kind of badass, cheap but ambitious.  For a series that will be on network TV, the effects look hilariously bad, but the fact that ABC is taking a chance on such an effects-heavy show is kind of amazing (although, you’d think that they’d invest a little bit more in the effects for a prime time show that they seem to believe in).  I also wonder how long the “searching for a lost love” story can be stretched.  It’s a certainty that other story elements will emerge, but this trailer makes it seem as if that is the sole thrust of the show.  It probably doesn’t help that I’ve never seen an episode of Once Upon A Time.  (But Fables, a comic book series with a similar premise, is fantastic.)

I’ve often said that I won’t believe that Arrested Development is truly returning until I see footage.

Now I believe.  And I’m excited.

The trailer for The World’s End, the final film in Edgar Wright’s Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy.

I just rewatched the Catching Fire trailer and realized that I didn’t have the first movie’s trailer here.  I felt the need to upload it, seeing as how I feel the trailer is in many ways better than the actual film.

I swore I’d never see a Zack Snyder movie again.  Not after 300 and Watchmen.  But dammit this looks pretty good.

The trailer to Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games.

I’ve only read the first book, and I found the politics to be much weaker than the reality TV satire.  From what I’ve heard, in the second and third books, Collins bit off more than she could chew with the politics.  But I must say, this trailer has certainly intrigued me, and the political story looks very interesting.  (Loved the graffiti that said “The Odds Are NEVER In Your Favor.”)

Elysium trailer

Game of Thrones Season 3 trailer.

“Death is coming for everyone and everything.”  Oh Catelyn.  You have no idea.

The new trailer for Monsters University is amusing enough and contains hints of an interesting story, but am I wrong in picking up on a Dreamworks-esque vibe?  (Then again, with films like How To Train your Dragon, maybe the Pixar/Dreamworks dichotomy isn’t as clear-cut as it used to be.)

Here is the English-dubbed trailer for Studio Ghibli’s latest film, From Up On Poppy Hill.

The movie was released in Japan in 2011 and has gotten fairly positive reviews.  I’m a tad cautious about it because it was directed by Gorō Miyazaki, the director of Tales From Earthsea, the only Ghibli film I couldn’t sit through.  However, this film looks reminiscent of Whisper of the Heart, one of my favorite Ghibli films, and otherwise looks pleasant and sweet.

Interesting note: this film is not being distributed in the United States by Disney, most likely because a certain plot point* is a bit family unfriendly.  If that’s the case, why hasn’t Disney sold the home video rights to Only Yesterday to this distributor yet?  The fact that they continue to just sit on those rights makes no sense.

*From what I know of film, the film may contain an incest plot point.  However, I haven’t been able to confirm whether the incest is merely suggested.  Either way, probably not something Disney wants associated with their brand.

The first trailer for Iron Man 3.

Ooh, talk Civil War Amendments to me, Lincoln trailer.

The second trailer for Wreck-It Ralph.

Trailer for the 50th Anniversary edition of Lawrence of Arabia.

I was cautiously optimistic about the idea of a Monsters, Inc. prequel; on one hand, it’s Pixar, and they have a very strong track record.  On the other, I would rather get something new (or a sequel to The Incredibles).  But this teaser shows that the movie will at least be funny.  (Although, there is a strong chance that this footage won’t be in the film, as most Pixar teasers are fun jokes meant to get you excited for the movie, without the footage going into the actual movie.)
